T. Boone Pickens, Liberal?

NEWS ARTICLE REFERENCED - Oil Man Cometh...
So I was looking at the news on my Yahoo! homepage and noticed a nice liberal op-ed piece from The New York Times on this T. Boone Pickens fella. I wasn't into politics much four years ago, so I don't remember this man helping George Bush get reelected, as the story tells.

Nonetheless, I had been hearing this Mr. Picken's ad on my local radio station several times over the past few months, talking of large windfarms, etc. in Texas. Sounds peachy, Mr. Gore I MEAN Mr. Pickens. Mr. Picken's is an oil man and is out to make a profit, much like the rest of us. I support that. But something seems alittle fishy to me. An oil man trying to get our nation away from oil?? Hmmm... Anyway.

My opinion: Low Gas Prices, anyone? I believe it's been a fact that the last new oil refinery our nation has seen built was back in the 1976. From what I read, refineries are none too profitable. But... wouldn't it be cheaper to refine the oil over here? I say we open up ANWR (the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge) for drilling and build new refineries in the US. Cheaper Oil? My plan sounds simple enough.
