Why Gov't Healthcare?

Why is Government Healthcare allegedly NEEDED when this story is an excellent example as to why the healthcare system in our nation is NOT broken.

Lyman Sornberger, executive director of patient financial services at the Cleveland Clinic, said "all indications" at the outset are that she will be considered for assistance.

"She may be eligible for state Medicaid ... and/or she will be eligible for charity (care) of some form or type. ... In my personal opinion, she will be eligible for something," he said, adding that Canfield should not be worried about losing her home.

"Cleveland Clinic will not put a lien on her home," he said.

When I was hospitalized in April 2009 with spinal meningitis, I had a hospital/E.R/doctor bill for over $16,000 worth of treatment for a 3 day stay. All but $80 in charity co-pays was written off to charity. I'm thankful to Christ for that treatment.

In addition to the over $16k in treatments, I also received over 3 months of physical therapy. I got that care for a TOTAL cost of $0.00 (due to being unemployed at the time).

Social Security is bankrupt...

According to this story, this doesn't look good.

This year, for the first time since the 1980s, when Congress last overhauled Social Security, the retirement program is projected to pay out more in benefits than it collects in taxes — nearly $29 billion more.

Hey, I'm just a high-school dropout and college student. I dont know anything... BUT I do know that Social Security, especially when you're bragging about how popular it is *cough cough* NANCY PELOSI *cough cough*, needs to be FIXED, first.

I wouldn't brag about it...

From Speaker of the House, SanFran Nancy Pelosi.

It took courage for Congress to pass Social Security and Medicare, which eventually became highly popular, she said, "and many of the same forces that were at work decades ago are at work again against this bill."

I personally wouldn't be bragging upon Social Security and Medicare being "popular". Popular is BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in red ink that Medicare already cost us. Social Security currently brings in more in taxes than it pays out, but that only helps offset the burden of Medicare.

People talk about the "Social Security/Medicare Trust Fund"... There is no Trust Fund, in the generic sense. That "Trust Fund" was depleted YEARS ago and today, simply exist in the form of US Treasury IOUs. That is correct, the government owes itself money, but for the basis of accounting, considers the "Trust Fund" to have some magic form of wealth. Simply put, when the "Trust Funds" run out is when those pieces of paper can be put in a shredder.

By that time, those programs, without severe cuts, reductions, or adjustments to them, will virtually BANKRUPT the US Governement.

So Speaker Pelosi wants us to add another socially welfare-like program to the accounting books? YEAH! Let's enact that POPULAR healthcare reform, so the Democratic Party can play tidly winks and be POPULAR with the people. Sound like high school much?

Hmmm.. sounds like someone is scared...

...of the Tea Party peeps. ;)

Cindy Erickson, the chairwoman of the Democratic Party in Chisago County, where the billboard is located, suspects the ad's funders are conservative activists posing as Obama supporters.

"I don't have any idea who did it, but my thought was that they're Tea Party people," she said. "Regardless, it's been the subject of many conversations around here."

Jealous much? xD
